The 20th match of the IPL season 2023 was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first. RCB started their innings with a quick pace, with Virat Kohli smashing 47th IPL half-century off just 34 balls.
Virat Kohli hit six fours and one huge six, got rewarded man of the match award for his brilliant knock when other RCB batters kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which restricted them from setting a higher target.
Despite the setbacks, they managed to put up a total of 174/6 in their allotted 20 overs. DC got off to a poor start in their chase as Prithvi Shaw got run-out early by the impact player Anuj Rawat.
RCB’s debutant Indian fast bowler, Vijaykumar Vyshak, impressed everyone with his bowling as he picked up 3 crucial wickets for just 20 runs in his 4 overs. Vyshak’s spell was the best spell bowled by an Indian bowler for RCB in IPL. DC’s batsmen struggled to score runs and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which put them under pressure.
Delhi Capitals could only manage to score 151/9 in their 20 overs. In the end, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the match by 23 runs.
The win was largely due to the efforts of their batsmen and Vijaykumar Vyshak’s impressive debut bowling performance. The loss was a setback for Delhi Capitals, they will have to regroup and come back stronger in their next match.
