Recently, KL Rahul led LSG team smashed the second highest team score in the history of Indian Premier League. All batters played quickfire knocks with an impressive strike of 170+ at least, except the skipper KL Rahul who got out early on 12 off 9 deliveries.

The highest team score in IPL history was set by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2013 against the Pune Warriors. RCB scored a massive 263 runs in 20 overs, with Chris Gayle scoring a blistering 175 off just 66 balls, which included 17 sixes and 13 fours. AB de Villiers also played a quickfire knock of 31 off just 8 balls to help RCB reach the mammoth total of 263/5.

2. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) – 257/5 vs Punjab Kings, Mohali, 2023

The second-highest team score in IPL history was set by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in 2023 against the Punjab Kings. LSG scored an impressive 257 runs in their 20 overs, with all-rounder Marcus Stoinis scoring a brilliant 72 off just 40 balls.

3. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – 248/3 vs Gujarat Lions, Bengaluru, 2016

RCB featured again in the highest team scores list in IPL with their score of 248/3 against the Gujarat Lions in 2016. AB de Villiers, played one of the best innings in IPL history, scored an unbeaten 129 off just 52 balls, which included 10 sixes and 12 fours.

Also, RCB skipper Virat Kohli smashed rocking 109 0ff just 55 deliveries, with 4 smashing boundaries and 8 towering sixes all over the ground. 

4. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – 246/5 vs Rajasthan Royals, Chennai, 2010

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is known for their consistency in the IPL, and they feature in the fourth spot with their score of 246/5 against the Rajasthan Royals in 2010. Murali Vijay scored a brilliant century, 127 off just 56 balls.

5. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) – 245/6 vs Punjab Kings, Indore, 2018

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured the fifth spot with their score of 245/6 against the Punjab Kings in 2018. Opener Sunil Narine scored 75 off just 36 balls, which included 4 sixes and 9 fours.

6. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – 240/5 vs Punjab Kings, Mohali, 2008

CSK featured again in the sixth spot with their score of 240/5 against the Punjab Kings in the inaugural IPL season. Mr. Cricket Michael Hussey scored a brilliant 116 off just 54 balls.

7. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) – 235/4 vs Kolkata Knight Riders, Kolkata, 2023

CSK featured yet again in the seventh spot with their score of 235/4 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018.Classical Ajinkya Rahane smashed a cracking knock of 71 off 29 deliveries with the assistance of 6 boundaries and 5 huge sixes. 

8. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) – 235/1 vs Mumbai Indians, Mumbai, 2015

RCB again featured in the list at the eighth spot with their score of 235/1 against the Mumbai Indians in 2015. An all time hit duo AB de Villiers-Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten partnership of 215 runs, taking the team’s total to 200+ one more time. 

9. Mumbai Indians (MI) – 235/9 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad, Abu Dhabi, 2021

Mumbai Indians (MI) featured in the ninth spot with their score of 235/9 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021. Opener Ishan Kishan and 360* player Suryakumar Yadav scored a brilliant quickfire 80+ scores each with an impressive 200+ strike rate, 84 (32) and 82 (40) respectively. 

10. Punjab Kings (PBKS) – 232/2 vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dharamshala, 2011

The last spot on this list belongs to Punjab Kings, who scored a mammoth 232/2 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Dharamshala cricket ground. Australian left handed batters Shaun Marsh (79 off 49 deliveries) and Adam Gilchrist (106 off 55 deliveries) showed no mercy against the RCB bowlers, scoring a 206-run stand.  

In conclusion, even after the full team effort of LSG in the ongoing season, the highest team score in IPL history is still 263/5, scored by RCB against PWI in the 2013 season. It was an incredible batting display from Gayle and the rest of the RCB team, and it is a record that is likely to stand for a long time. The IPL continues to produce exciting matches and extraordinary performances, and who knows, we might see a team score even higher than 263 in the future.
