The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 14th, 2023 was a one-sided affair as RCB emerged victorious by a huge margin of 112 runs.
RCB, led by their skipper Faf du Plessis, won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a decent start, with openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis adding 50 runs for the first wicket.
However, RCB lost three quick wickets in the form of Faf du Plessis, Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror, leaving them at 120-4 in the 16th over.
That’s when Anuj Rawat walked in to bat and turned the tide in RCB’s favor. Rawat played a blistering cameo of 29 runs off just 11 balls, which included three fours and two sixes. His knock helped RCB post a challenging total of 171/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, RR got off to the worst possible start, losing opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in the very first over. Things went from bad to worse for the home team as wickets kept falling at regular intervals, and they were soon reduced to 31-6 in the 7th over.
None of the RR batsmen could get going, and they were bundled out for a paltry 59 in just 10.3 overs, handing RCB a thumping win by 112 runs. RCB’s bowlers were on fire, with Wayne Parnell being the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3-0-10-3.
With this win, RCB moved up to the fifth spot in the IPL 2023 points table, with an improved net run rate of 0.17. The team will be hoping to carry this momentum forward and put in more such dominant performances in the upcoming matches.

Overall, it was a clinical performance by RCB, with their batsmen and bowlers both delivering when it mattered the most. RR, on the other hand, will have to regroup and come up with a better performance in their next match if they are to stay in contention for the playoffs.
