Splendid Spell From Siraj, Faf du Plessis-Virat Kohli’s 100+ Stand Help RCB Earn 2 Crucial Points

RCB Registers a Comfortable Win Over Punjab Kings in IPL 2023.

In the 27th match of IPL 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

PBKS won the toss and chose to bowl first, hoping to restrict the opposition to a manageable total. However, RCB’s top order put up a good show, and the team posted a competitive score of 174/4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Faf du Plessis, who had a slow start, found his rhythm and hit some clean sixes to give RCB the much-needed momentum. His love for Mohali was evident as he scored his fourth fifty-plus score in four visits to the stadium. He was well-supported by skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 59 runs off 47 balls. Their partnership of 137 runs in 16.1 overs was the backbone of RCB’s innings.

RCB Captain Virat Kohli, who came back in the captaincy role after fifteen months. His innings was divided into two parts. Against the pace bowlers, he was comfortable and scored 43 runs off 26 balls, including four boundaries and a six, at a strike rate of 165.38. However, he struggled against spin and could only manage 16 runs off 21 balls, with just one boundary, at a strike rate of 76.2. Despite this, Kohli played a crucial role in stabilizing RCB’s innings and laying the foundation for a big score.

In reply, PBKS started off well but lost wickets at regular intervals, which prevented them from building any significant partnerships. The only batsman who looked comfortable was Prabhsimran Singh, who scored a quick-fire 46 off 30 balls. However, he couldn’t get the support he needed from the other end, and PBKS fell short of the target, eventually managing to score only 150 runs in 18.2 overs.

RCB’s bowling was impressive, with Mohammed Siraj leading from the front. He removed opener Taide and Livingstone in quick succession and returned with his best-ever IPL figures of 4/21. Wanindu Hasaranga also chipped in with two crucial wickets, and RCB owed a lot to their bowlers for their win.

A couple of run-outs further added to PBKS’s woes, and they eventually fell short of the target by 24 runs. RCB’s win helped them move into the top half of the table, with three wins from six games.

In conclusion, RCB’s win over PBKS was a comprehensive one, with the team dominating both with the bat and ball. While Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli played crucial roles with the bat, Mohammed Siraj and Wanindu Hasaranga were the heroes with the ball.

PBKS, on the other hand, would be disappointed with their batting performance and will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next game.
